The Top 10 are going to perform Grammy winning music tonight but only 8 of them will be moving forward to next week.
But first, remember how the Season 1 Miss American Idol winner, Kelly Clarkson came back last week to be a guest judge and to perform? Well after her performance of Piece By Piece on the show, the song has skyrocketed up the charts! The album version went all the way to #1 on the itunes chart for a couple of days. And her record company has released a special "Idol" version of the song so now she actually has TWO songs in the top 10 on the itunes chart with the Idol version at #4 right now while the album version is at #10. Pop singer Demi Lovato performed her current hits Confident and Stone Cold this week. Perhaps she will experience a hefty bump on the charts as a result this week?
The first finalist assured an opportunity to perform next week is Dalton. His version of Radioactive is good, but it's a little less spectacular than what he usually does. But even so, he's still one of the best.
Lee was next and he took on Use Somebody. I applaud his effort to be more than a boring skinny guy with a guitar with this higher energy, rock song, but it was still pretty drab compared to what the others are capable of.
Sonika is easily the most effortlessly talented and gifted vocalist of the bunch. The beautiful sounds that come out of her mouth are pure high quality entertainment. Her version of Since U Been Gone had great energy and flawless vocals.
Mackenzie is just stuck in the boring skinny guy with a guitar rut. He tried to do something interesting with I Wanna Dance With Somebody, but it was just flat and lifeless.
La'Porsha is a genuine artist. She proved that with an impressive rendition of Halo that far exceeded the original.
Trent is also an outstanding artist. He took an old classic like When A Man Loves A Woman and he breathed new life into it.
The last finalist to be assured a place on the show next week was Tristan. She sat at the piano and delivered the most wonderful version of Go Rest High On The Mountain. It was vocally amazing and packed with the most emotional punch of the night.
That left the bottom three vote getters of the week to be Olivia, Avalon and Gianna. I predicted that Lee and Avalon would be going home, so I was only slightly close this week.
Olivia, Avalon and Gianna had to take turns singing and see which one of them the judges would save while the other two would be eliminated.
Avalon went first and performed Earned It. It was nothing special. Olivia went next and poured her heart and soul into Trouble. Gianna went last and gave her best effort into If I Ain't Got You. Personally I think Olivia and Gianna should both have been saved, but for some crazy reason, the judges decided to keep Avalon around.
We had to say goodbye to two very talented young ladies in Olivia and Gianna. My prediction for the bottom three next week is Lee, Mackenzie and Avalon.

The Results - Beginnings
There was no group performance to open the show this week. Ryan got started with the results immediately informing us that Phillip, Joshua and Skylar were all safe while Elise was once again at risk of elimination.
Teen star Demi Lovato is continuing to pursue a career as a young adult in the music world. After huge success starring in Disney movies and TV shows like Camp Rock, she came to the American Idol stage to perform her latest dance pop single, Give Your Heart A Break. Demi is way better than Miley Cyrus, but not quite as all-around cute, talented and adorable as Selena Gomez.
Colton, Jessica and Deandre are safe leaving Shannon to join Elise in the bottom three.
The season 5 Miss American Idol 3rd Runner-Up, Chris Daughtry, has had very significant platinum selling success with his first two albums, and this performance tonight should give a nice boost to the lagging sales of his third album. The single Outta My Head has a little more bounce and energy than his usual brand of soft rock, so things could turn around.
Hollie and Heejun are also safe putting Erika in the position of completing the bottom three with Shannon and Elise. But thankfully, after her wonderful performance of Let's Stay Together last night, Elise is also safe.
Erika was then also sent back to safety while Shannon had one last chance to sing for her life in the hopes that the judges would save her from elimination. Unfortunately for her, she completely butchered One Sweet Day the same way she did last night and the judges put us all out of our misery.
So Shannon is out of the competition just as I had predicted. But to go along with that good news is the bad news that we are still stuck with the terrible twosome of mean boys, Phillip and Heejun to be rude, arrogant and condescending for another week.

The Results - #1 Hits
It was a very special moment in the group opening number getting the chance to see the genuine Crystal Bowersox truly be herself singing the smash that WHAM! took to #1 for three weeks in 1984, Wake Me Up Before You Go Go. There she was dumping all of that fake guitar playing rock chick garbage and really expressing herself as the true jitter bugging girly girl that she is.
Siobhan, Casey and Lee are all safe, but both Tim and Paige had to take the first two seats in the bottom three.
Miley Cyrus is not a good singer. She strained her way through her latest single, When I Look At You, and it was pure torture on the ears. A piano driven power ballad is not the best type of song for her limited abilities. In addition to her lack of vocal talent, she wasn't the best mentor for the finalists especially because she's never experienced her own #1 hit on the Billboard HOT 100 so she didn't fit into the theme. She's hit the top 10 on the chart three times with See You Again peaking at #10, The Climb which hit #4 and Party In The USA that did manage to get all the way up to #2.
Aaron, Didi, Michael, and Crystal are all safe and somehow, shockingly, Andrew is also safe. That means that Katie had to join Tim and Paige in the bottom three, but she wasn't there for long as she was immediately informed that she was safe.
A couple more Disney Channel favorites, Joe Jonas and Demi Lovato, got up on stage and showcased their pretty faces and lack of vocal talents. But they were still better than Miley...
The person who is the lowest vote getter of the week is Paige Miles so Tim was sent back to safety. The judges had no interest in using the SAVE for her so she just sang for the last time knowing there was no hope.
This week I correctly predicted two out of three and was right that Paige would be the one going home. I have to question now, who is voting for Andrew? It's gonna be sad to see what a mess he makes next week.
