The Season 12 Top 10 are revealed

It's been a long journey so far, but we are finally at the point where the votes have been counted at the Season 12 Top 10 finalists can be revealed. As we took a look back at how we got up to this point, the fantastic new Mariah Carey single, Almost Home was played. The inspirational lyrics and outstanding vocals were the perfect match how hard these finalists have worked to get here.

The format for the results show was completely different from any other season thus far. The 20 finalists were left to sit back stage while waiting for Ryan to one by one reveal who had made it through. After he informed the finalists who was going to be able to continue in the competition, that finalist was treated to the superstar star treatment. They had the chance to make a grand entrance onto the stage to the roar of the live audience cheering for them. And then they got to sing a celebratory performance for the appreciative crowd. It was very entertaining.

The boys learned the news first. Burnell Taylor, Curtis Finch Jr., and Devin Velez will be joining the clear frontunners Paul Jolley and Lazaro Arbos. Paul impressed the the crowd with a rendition of Alone by Heart while Lazaro delivered his version of Simon and Garfunkel's Bridge Over Troubled Water.

It was then announced that the top 5 girls are Janelle Arthur, Candice Glover, Angie Miller, Amber Holcomb and Kree Harrison. The group of girls is very strong as demonstrated by Janelle's wonderful version of Dierks Bentley's Home, Candice Glover's I'm Going Down, by Mary J. Blige, and Whitney Houston's I'm Every Woman done by Amber.

I did pretty well accurately predicting 7 of the Top 10. The next American Idol could very easily be Angie Miller, but she definitely has some significant competition. Her performance tonight of I Was Here was quite a declaration of not only her talent, but also of her drive and passion.
