Kelly Clarkson - BACK AT #1!!!!!

Season One Miss American Idol winner Kelly Clarkson will make history on this week's Billboard Hot 100, to be posted tomorrow (Jan. 29) on Billboard.com, with the largest leap to No. 1 in the chart's 50-year history. Her new single, "My Life Would Suck Without You," is set to rocket 97-1 after selling 280,000 digital downloads in its first week of availability.

The song is also faring well at radio, jumping 58-38 on the Hot 100 Airplay chart and 27-18 on the Mainstream Top 40 list."My Life" introduces Clarkson's March 17 RCA album "All I Ever Wanted." This is the second time the artist has set the record for largest jump to No. 1. She took her "American Idol" victory song, "A Moment Like This," 52-1 on the chart dated October 5, 2002."My Life" is Clarkson's first No. 1 since her debut single, though she has placed six other songs in the top 10 during this time, including the No. 2-peaking "Since U Been Gone" in April 2005.

"Never Again", the first single from her last set, the relatively poor performing "My December," opened at No. 8 on the Hot 100 in the May 5, 2007, issue, starting with 107,000 downloads, and spending a total of two weeks in the top 10.

Season 8 Begins...

We just got through two nights of the Season 8 auditions. It was more of the same as the judges humiliated the delusion young people and shattered their dreams and made them cry. I see no point in writing about these first few weeks of each season. Once we get to the top finalists and their performances I will resume the reviews...

Until then, we have Lady GaGa holding on to the #1 position on the Billboard HOT 100 for a second week with Just Dance. There aren't any Miss American Idol finalists near the top of the charts this week. David Cook is continuing to make a respectable showing on the album chart with his debut, but the single, Light On, just hasn't been able to rise very high on the airplay and sales charts. Just like with the video for David Archuleta's, Crush, the video for Light On is doing very well on the VH1 Top 20 Video Countdown.

So with no current action going on with the Idols on the charts here's a few things we can look forward to:

Jennifer Hudson will be singing the National Anthem at the SuperBowl on Feb. 1st.

The Grammy Awards will be on Feb. 8th and we'll get to see if Jordin Sparks, Fantasia, Carrie Underwood and Jennifer Hudson will come home winners.

Season One Miss American Idol Winner, Kelly Clarkson, is going to try and make us all forget her totally dreary last album My December by releasing some new material finally. The artwork for her new single, My Life Would Suck Without You, is bursting with vibrant and fun energy. She's all dolled up with cherry red lipstick holding a heart shaped lollipop. That song could be hitting the charts any day now and I expect it to be her biggest hit since she peaked at #2 in 2005 with Since U Been Gone. The new album is called All I Ever Wanted and it will be released on March 17th.
