Season 8 Begins...

We just got through two nights of the Season 8 auditions. It was more of the same as the judges humiliated the delusion young people and shattered their dreams and made them cry. I see no point in writing about these first few weeks of each season. Once we get to the top finalists and their performances I will resume the reviews...

Until then, we have Lady GaGa holding on to the #1 position on the Billboard HOT 100 for a second week with Just Dance. There aren't any Miss American Idol finalists near the top of the charts this week. David Cook is continuing to make a respectable showing on the album chart with his debut, but the single, Light On, just hasn't been able to rise very high on the airplay and sales charts. Just like with the video for David Archuleta's, Crush, the video for Light On is doing very well on the VH1 Top 20 Video Countdown.

So with no current action going on with the Idols on the charts here's a few things we can look forward to:

Jennifer Hudson will be singing the National Anthem at the SuperBowl on Feb. 1st.

The Grammy Awards will be on Feb. 8th and we'll get to see if Jordin Sparks, Fantasia, Carrie Underwood and Jennifer Hudson will come home winners.

Season One Miss American Idol Winner, Kelly Clarkson, is going to try and make us all forget her totally dreary last album My December by releasing some new material finally. The artwork for her new single, My Life Would Suck Without You, is bursting with vibrant and fun energy. She's all dolled up with cherry red lipstick holding a heart shaped lollipop. That song could be hitting the charts any day now and I expect it to be her biggest hit since she peaked at #2 in 2005 with Since U Been Gone. The new album is called All I Ever Wanted and it will be released on March 17th.
