Three more lucky ones

2008 was the Year of the Gentleman named Ne-Yo and his big hit, Closer. The 12 finalists opened the show with a very fun rendtion of this dance pop hit. It was quite impressive because it allowed all of them to harmonize and sing the multiple vocal layers in the song.

Ryan called the first three finalists out to the center of the stage starting with Allison Iraheta, Jesse Langseth and Matt Breitzke. The first one of them to hear the good news was not Jesse or Matt. It was Allison left standing on the stage ALONE, to once again sing her version of the song for the fans.

Megan Joy Corkrey and Kris Allen were next joined by Matt Giraud and Jeanine Vailes center stage. Both Matt and Jeanine were sent back to the couch with the sad news that their journey has come to an end. Turns out that America was actually voting for their ideal boyfriend so Kris Allen is advancing to the Top 12, singing Man In The Mirror again while Megan is out of the running....for now.

Remember Brooke White from last season? Yeah, the one who could barely carry a tune and stayed in the competition WAY too long. Well, she has a new single out and she came back to sing it. Blah, blah, blah, She's a nice girl, blah, blah, blah, it's a boring song....

Jasmine Murray, Kai Kalama and Mishavonna Henson all then heard the news that they have reached the end of the road. That left just Adam Lambert and Nick Mitchell to fill the final position of the evening. Turns out that American was not in the mood for comedy and decided to allow Adam to give us the Satisfaction and strut his stuff around the stage one more time.

For the second week in a row, I have gotten only two of my three predictions correct. I must admit that in this case I am pleased that I was wrong - more screen time for Kris Allen!!! Looking ahead to the wild card round, I foresee that Megan Joy Corkrey, Jasmine Murray and Matt Giraud will all be given another opportunity to stay in the game.
