More Idol Album Sales

This year's Miss American Idol first runner-up, Blake Lewis, starts at No. 10 on the Billboard 200 albums chart with his debut album, "Audio Day Dream". It sold 98,000 copies in its first week and I am happy to say that one of them was purchased by me. I've been listening to it non-stop all week. It's a great collection of electronic beats and catchy lyrics combined with his smooth vocals. Blake's opening sales week and chart debut is lower than that of three other Miss American Idol first runner-ups' debuts (Clay Aiken, Bo Bice and Katharine McPhee), but larger than two others (Justin Guarini and Diana DeGarmo).

You may remember that Clay Aiken's debut album, Measure of a Man, still holds the record for the highest one week sales of any Miss American Idol finalist - winner or runner-up - with sales of over 600,000.

Carrie Underwood's "Carnival Ride" is continuing to sell more copies every week than it did the week before. She moves up to No. 7 on the Billboard 200 albums chart with a 20% sales bump selling 107,000 copies.
