Four more are out the door...

Three Dog Night dominated the airwaves in the early 70's. Their biggest hit spent six weeks at #1 in 1971, Joy To The World. The 20 remaining finalists all performed this hippie anthem with enthusiasm and energy. In less than one hour, four of them will have one less thing to be joyful about.

One by one Ryan asked the boys to stand up and hear their fate. Phil, Chris, Sundance, Blake, and Jerod were all relieved to hear they were safe and then Ryan blurted out that Nick is going home. While his looks got him this far, his weak voice was destined to lead him here. Just turn the volume down and watch him perform Fever for the last time. He's never sounded better.

Then it was time for the girls to hear the news. Stephanie, Gina, Sabrina, and Melinda were all able to sit comfortably knowing they are coming back next week. Alaina, on the other hand, had to endure hearing that she is being kicked to the curb and then she had to sing Not Ready To Make Nice again. It was visibly difficult for her. She was so emotional she could barely get a word out. The girls all rallyed around her on stage and gave her some support. It still didn't sound any good.

In Season Four Carrie Underwood was crowned Miss American Idol and she has since become a top selling recording artist and multiple award winner. In Season Five, the judges must have been desperate to recreate the magic when they allowed Kellie Pickler into the top 24. Just like Carrie, she's a pretty, young and blond country girl. Kellie really did her best to channel Carrie with a performance from her current album that is in stores now. With this high profile opportunity, she may actually get a big spike in sales.

Back to bursting the bubble for one of the boys. Chris and Brandon were both still in tact while Sanjaya and AJ were asked to step center stage. Sanjaya was here last week and he ended up being safe. Turns out he was safe again. Go Figure. AJ treated the audience to another taste of his fabulous, two snaps up with twirl and a flame performance style. He sounded great and he managed to look like he was having a great time. It's a shame we won't get to see him again.

After that surprise announcement any one of the girls could be going home. It was not LaKisha, Haley or Antonella. That left Leslie and Jordin center stage, but, thankfully, there was no surprise this time. Leslie is being sent packing back to the dogs. Who knew that electing to sing Feeling Good was going to be such bad luck. Well, the way Leslie sang it, we all knew she didn't have a chance. We unfortunately had to suffer through her singing it again.

You have to call in and vote for the good singers. I was wrong with my predictions for the boys and we are now stuck with Sanjaya coming back next week. Since I was right with my prediction for the girls their battle for the top 6 should be pretty heated next week.
