Top 10 Songs of 2021

The Top 10 songs of 2021!!

2021 has been a great year for fun pop songs getting into the upper portion of the Billboard HOT 100 Singles chart. Here's my Top 10 favorite songs of the year:

Levitating - Dua Lipa

This completely infectious pop dance jam was at the top of the charts at the beginning of the year and it stayed there for the entire year!!! It's so good that you just wanted to keep hearing it again and again.

Fancy Like - Walker Hayes

At first you started to hear it thinking it was just a fun commercial for Applebee's, but then you kept hearing it and realized it was an all-around country pop dance music sensation.

Leave The Door Open - Bruno Mars and Silk Sonic

Thank goodness the music industry has Bruno Mars saving the pop music scene with his retro R&B/funk stylings. He truly knows how to make great music like no others.

Take My Breath - The Weeknd

His song last year officially became the biggest Hot 100 hit of all time and he followed it up this year with another hot song to illustrate that he is a master at crafting an amazing pop song.

Bad Habits - Ed Sheeran

While his ballads are sweet and nice, it was very enjoyable that Ed came back with an uptempo pop song that added more range and versatility to his catalog to keep us tapping our toes.

Kiss Me More - Doja Cat

She has turned out to be more than a one hit wonder coming back with another song that is pure pop music toe tapping pleasure.

Save Your Tears - Ariana Grande and The Weeknd

He was the dominant force in pop music for two years now, but this song was stalling on the charts until the pop princess with the golden touch joined in for the remix causing it to shoot to #1.

Heat Waves - Glass Animals

This is a song that I kept hearing in the background and slowly liked it more and more. It's subtle, yet catchy.

Easy On Me - Adele

Adele is that rare artist who has undeniable crossover mainstream appeal with the general public unlike anyone else. While other artists can be love em or hate em polarizing, Adele brings all music fans together. Even when the song is simple and understated it's a smash hit.

Butter - BTS

This K-Pop super group is here to stay - or at least for another year. This hit was even bigger than their breakthrough song last year. Another slice of boy band magic that is keeping their army of fans happy.

More Favorite Songs of 2020

I recently listed my Top 10 Favorite Songs of 2020. Just for clarification let me explain that those songs all had to meet the eligibility for that list by reaching the Top 10 on the Billboard HOT 100 during 2020. I happen to be one of those people that believes that "It's not a hit until it's a hit on Billboard". Just in case you don't know, in order to reach the top of the Billboard HOT 100, a song must get the most sales, streams and radio airplay for any given week.

There were lots of other songs that I loved in 2020 that failed to make the top 10 on the Billboard HOT 100 singles chart. Here's a list of some of my other favorites in 2020. One thing that I can say about all of these songs is that it's a shame it didn't get more sales and airplay to do better on the Billboard HOT 100 singles chart.

In the ideal world, great songs from Country, Pop, Dance and R and B would all find their way to the upper positions of the Billboard HOT 100.

I Hope You're Happy Now - Carly Pearce and Lee Brice: There's a reason why this song won the CMA for Event of the Year. Great vocals, a danceable beat and lyrics we can all relate to.

More Hearts Than Mine - Ingrid Andress: The most amazing song paired with an impressive new singer/songwriter leads to a nomination at the Grammys for Best New Artist. She really deserves a win!

All Night - Brothers Osborne: These guys can be counted on to give a hot song that is high energy and great for a line dance.

After A Few - Travis Denning: There's nothing wrong with enjoying some bro-country music about drinking and dating. This is one of the best!

Lovin On You - Luke Combs: A roller rink party is the perfect setting for this fun lovin country music by Luke Combs. He's proving himself to be a big star delivering hit after hit.

More Than My Hometown - Morgan Wallen: With the mullett and sleaveless plaid shirts he could be just another country boy stereotype, but he's got the great songs to go along with it.

Beer Can't Fix - Thomas Rhett and Jon Pardi: Two sexy country singers coming together to give us a good time party song that is perfect for dancing a cha cha slide, county line or stationary cha cha.

In Between - Scotty McCreery: Scotty won American Idol years ago and he is still giving us great music to show how worthy he is of the crown.

Gabrielle - Brett Eldredge: Brett is just so good. He has a rugged down home voice and puts some real heart into everything he sings.

Be A Light - Thomas Rhett: Words to live by during hard times and during all times. Thomas team up with Hilary Scott and Reba for this ispirational anthem. Let's hope we can all come together and start being a part of the solution.

Top 10 Songs of 2020

The Top 10 songs of 2020!!

2020 has been a great year for fun pop songs getting into the upper portion of the Billboard HOT 100 Singles chart. Here's my Top 10 favorite songs of the year:

Watermelon Sugar - Harry Styles

There was only one direction this song was going in the first time I heard it. Such a sweet and delicious pop confection destined to be my number one favorite song of the year.

Don't Start Now - Dua Lipa

She followed up winning the Grammy for Best New Artist with a sophomore album full of the best dance beats, catchy hooks and amazing vocals of the year.

Rain On Me - Ariana Grande and Lady Gaga

Ariana Grande has been an unstopable force in pop music and in 2020 she was bigger than ever. She teamed up with Lady Gaga for this high energy dance jam that was another debut at #1 on the Billboard HOT 100.

Blinding Lights - The Weeknd

He took a riff that sounds like it's right out of the 80's smash hit Take On Me by A-Ha and made it into the most inescapable song on the airwaves. It's so good you never get sick of it.

I Hope - Gabby Barrett

American Idol is still finding the hit makers after all these years. Gabby was the 2nd runner up a couple of years ago and here she his having the biggest song of the year on Country Music radio and crossing over on to the pop charts.

Say So - Doja Cat

I am still learning who this girl is, where she came from and what her name means. But what I do know for sure is that her song is pure pop music toe tapping pleasure.

Stuck With You - Ariana Grande and Justin Bieber

When the stay at home orders went from lasting weeks to months Ariana Grande teamed up with Justin Bieber with this catchy ballad making the best of the situation and celebrating how nice it can be to be stuck with the one we love. And it was another #1 debut for the pop princess with the golden touch.

Adore You - Harry Styles

It was wonderful to see Harry come into his own this year delivering great music and embracing his beautiful gender fluid identity. Adorable all around.

Dynamite - BTS

This K-Pop super group has been around for a few years now, but they finally offered the most perfect dance pop hit that is boy band magic taking a page right out of the Michael Jackson playbook.

Positions - Ariana Grande

Whatever she touched this year was going to debut at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100. She knows her way around a catchy hook and she pairs it with the best visuals. This one allowed us to envision a future Presidential Administration that ir young, diverse and has a great sense of style!!!

More Favorite Songs of 2019

I recently listed my Top 10 Favorite Songs of 2019. Just for clarification let me explain that those songs all had to meet the eligibility for that list by reaching the Top 10 on the Billboard HOT 100 during 2019. I happen to be one of those people that believes that "It's not a hit until it's a hit on Billboard". Just in case you don't know, in order to reach the top of the Billboard HOT 100, a song must get the most sales, streams and radio airplay for any given week.

There were lots of other songs that I loved in 2019 that failed to make the top 10 on the Billboard HOT 100 singles chart. Here's a list of some of my other favorites in 2019.

Love You Too Late - Cole Swindell: This is a super fun high energy song perfect for doing many of your favorite dances at a country bar - As a shuffle partner dance, stationary cha cha, or a county line.

There Was This Girl - Riley Green: There was this great beat. There was this sexy country singer. There was no way this was not going to be a favorite for the year.

Miss Me More - Kelsea Ballerini: One of the Next Women of Country continuing to climb and go to the next level with hot, fun and catchy songs.

Good Vibes - Chris Janson: First of all, it's a great song with an inspiring and uplifting message. But you have to see this man live in concert!!! He puts on an outstanding show that will blow you away!

Southbound - Carrie Underwood: The summer time/Spring Break anthem for this year and for the ages from one of the best singers out there.

A No No - Mariah Carey: We all know that she dominated at Christmas time spending three weeks at #1 on the Billboard HOT 100, but she did so much more in 2019 that is worthy of attention. This song from her very critically acclaimed album Caution was described by The New York Times as showing her as perfect for this moment in R&B (Again).

What Happens In A Small Town - Brantley Gilbert and Lindsay Ell: Two sexy country singers coming together to give us a sexy guitar driven love song.

I Don't Know About You - Chris Lane: It's the song that always seemed to be playing every time I turned on the radio, and I liked it more and more every time.

The Git Up - Blanco Brown: It's very rare that a song comes a long that not only inspires a viral trend #GitUpChallenge but you also know it's going to live on forever at wedding receptions for all of eternity.

What If I Never Get Over You - Lady Antebellum: 10 years into their amazing career and they are still serving up the best music has to offer.

Top 10 Songs of 2019

The Top 10 songs of 2019!!
2019 has been a great year for fun pop songs getting into the upper portion of the Billboard HOT 100 Singles chart. Here's my Top 10 favorite songs of the year:

Sucker - Jonas Brothers

These hot boys came back to the charts bigger and better than ever in 2019. This song is pure pop perfection.

Circles - Post Malone

Almost every song on the radio was by Post Malone in 2019, but Circles stood out far and above all of the rest with it's infectious beat.

7 Rings - Ariana Grande

She has been the most dominate artist of the decade delivering the best pop hits and this one is definitely one of our FAVORITE THINGS!!!

If I Can't Have You - Shawn Mendes

He's young, he's cute, and he consistently releases fun and catchy songs.

Bad Guy - Billie Eilish

This young goth girl could have just been another drab, dreary diva blending in with all of the other ones who sound just like her, but this dance beat totally set her apart from the crowd.

Senorita - Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello

They want us to believe they are a real life couple, but ignore all that nonsense and just enjoy a really great vocal collaboration.

Old Town Road - Lil Nas X and Billy Ray Cyrus

This song is significant in so many ways beyond it just bridging the gap between hip hop and country music. It brought Billy Ray Cyrus back to the charts. It spent a record setting 19 weeks at #1 on the Billboard HOT 100. It marked the first time that a gay man won an award at the CMA Awards.

Good As Hell - Lizzo

While her new album is getting lots of critical acclaim it's nice that this song that's two years old is finally getting the attention and airplay it deserves.

Dancing With A Stranger - Sam Smith and Normani

He was filling the media with a lot of attention seeking fluff all year, but he really should just put his focus on pairing his impressive vocals with great songs like this. It's all we really want.

High Hopes - Panic At The Disco

Every once in a while that dance floor party anthem comes out and it's undeniable.
